NeoChat Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Echoblend Technologies Pvt Ltd ("Neodhan", "we", "us") collects and uses data in NeoChat, our business chat app for borrowers and the Neodhan team. It is written to match what the app does today and is the document to submit in Google Play Data safety. The full Neodhan policy (website and loans) is at neodhan.com/privacy.
1. Who this applies to
NeoChat is for adult customers with a Neodhan loan journey and for authorised Neodhan staff. It is not directed at children. If you are under 18, do not create an account.
2. Account information
We collect your mobile number to send a one-time password (OTP) and to sign you in. We may store your name from your Neodhan profile. Email is optional and only saved if you enter it in Profile. We do not read your SMS inbox. OTP Autofill, if offered by Android or iOS, is handled by the operating system for that one code.
3. Messages and documents
Chat messages, shared contacts you choose, photos, videos, and documents you attach are processed to run loan rooms (status, docs, GST, co-borrower, and related servicing). Files you send are used for that conversation and application, not for advertising.
4. Contacts
If you turn on "People you know" and grant the system Contacts permission, NeoChat can read your address book on this device so you can find friends and colleagues who already use NeoChat, search family names for co-borrower, and start referrals you choose. Names stay on the device. We may use hashed phone numbers to match existing NeoChat users. Sharing one person in a thread still uses the system contact picker. We do not upload your full address book, and we do not read contact emails, notes, or photos.
5. Camera and gallery
Camera, microphone (for video), and gallery access are optional. The system asks only when you capture or pick a photo or video to send in chat. We do not scan your gallery in the background.
6. Location
Location is optional. We use it when you share a pin or live location in a room, and when staff mark attendance. Live location can continue if you leave the app only while that share is on, with a notification, until you tap Stop. We do not track your location in the background at other times.
7. Device signals
If you turn on Device signals, we may store hardware model, OS version, app version, whether the device appears physical vs emulator, experimental root/jailbreak checks, and a NeoChat install ID. This helps stop another device from acting as you. We do not collect IMEI, IMSI, or SIM serial. Our servers see your IP address on HTTPS connections, as any secure app does.
8. What we do not collect
We do not read SMS or call logs, do not list other apps on your phone, and do not use contacts, location, or device data to sell ads. We do not scrape incoming messages to detect betting, gaming, or crypto activity.
9. Why we use data
- App functionality: chat, loan servicing, document exchange
- Finding people already on NeoChat and referrals you start
- Staff attendance
- Consented fraud / device-integrity checks
We use data only for purposes you have agreed to. If we need a new purpose, we will ask again.
10. Sharing
We share data with Neodhan systems that already serve your loan (for example the loan management platform) so your relationship manager can help you. We may use infrastructure providers who process data on our instructions (hosting, OTP delivery). We do not sell your personal data. We may disclose information if required by Indian law or a lawful request.
11. Storage and security
Data in transit is sent over HTTPS. Login tokens and consent flags on the phone use the device secure store where available. Contact names for matching stay on-device.
12. Retention and deletion
Account and chat records are kept while your loan relationship requires servicing and as required by applicable financial-services record rules, then deleted or anonymised. See also our Data Record Retention Policy. You can delete the on-device contact directory and picked people from Profile. To request deletion of server-side data, email privacy@neodhan.com from your registered mobile or email. We may retain limited records where the law requires it.
13. Your choices
You can refuse Contacts, Location, Camera, Gallery, and Device signals. Chat, typing a number, and OTP login still work. You can withdraw optional consents in Privacy & signals. Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may also have rights to access, correction, and grievance redressal.
14. Children
NeoChat is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
15. Changes
We may update this policy when the product or the law changes. The "Last updated" date will change. Material changes will be shown in the app.
